    QF63 SYD-JNB F upgrades

By happenstance we're flying SYD-JNB on what appears to be the first A380 flight on that route (8 Jul 24). We've purchased J seats and have submitted upgrade requests since it wouldn't let us purchase F, does anyone have any insights on the likelihood of the upgrades coming through, or will the...

    Ask The Pilot

Hi pilots - this aircraft was tracking back and forward across Brisbane today, any thoughts on what this flight pattern is for? Is it some sort of land survey? After this the aircraft tracked north, orbited Caboolture several times, and then returned to Archerfield. Also lately there have...

QF PJ's in First - size

I'm not really a fan of the new PJs. I am 172cm / 75kg - where this fits in the distribution of flyers I have no idea but I'd say I was probably an average flyer in First Class - and the new PJs were what I'd call "form fitting". They weren't super uncomfortable but I wouldn't race out and buy...

    Ask The Pilot

I've experienced quite a few go arounds, almost all of them are explained as "aircraft in front didn't vacate the runway in time". I'm a little bit suspicious that this phrase is used by the pilots so as to not spook the passengers. Is this phrase the norm or do you usually announce what the...

    New VA Fare Structure

I've heard from an inside VA source, row 3 will be part of Space+. This is going to really peeve a lot of Plat and Gold, as others have pointed out the reality is not many will jump ship but 'death by many paper cuts' does not engender and reinforce loyalty.

    Ask The Pilot

On Tues afternoon I flew out of Sydney (originally scheduled out of NTL that morning, but that's another story) and the wind was buffeting the aerobridge and the parked aircraft quite strongly. Once powering down the runway the aircraft definitely got airborne pretty quickly! Question for...

    Ask The Pilot

I don't mean to hijack the thread away from "ask the pilot" but since the question was asked: from my vague memory of the 737 sim project I was involved in, it weighed over a tonne. However the weight itself is not the issue - it's that this weight is being flung around, often quite abruptly...

...and an enormous block of concrete to mount it on. Think of a block of concrete about the size of an average swimming pool and twice as deep.

Boeing 787 Stall Tests - YouTube talks about 787 stall testing. There are some 747 stall test videos kicking around also that are more dramatic.

Depends which direction your approach was. To the east there is a place called Mushrif National Park. Flash Earth - Zoom into satellite and aerial imagery of the Earth in Flash
