Ah i see where the confusion was. It was a SYD to LHR via BKK and HEL J ticket for 5.6k. It was the same sort of seat as the AA international long haul angle flat seats. I guess BKK LHR at 5.6k is pricey.

on the contrary i feel 5.6k return to and from London on a flatbed is a bargain and will do this again

My initial goal was to get gold and lounge access so that when I went on holidays with the wife we had a place to sit during transit. After reaching Plat my goal is to some how maintain this. The points are coming in handy with holiday flights and upgrades.
