Virgin Australia - Promo Codes (ongoing)

None seem to work for SYD-LAX in Sep '19

    Metal Platinum card

And to follow up after a couple of months of using it in Australia (and a couple of weeks in the US), I still haven't had a single issue with it.

    Metal Platinum card

Have had my new metal card for a couple of weeks now. Seems to be functioning normally so far, including tap and insert without any issues.

    AFR Subscription Received?

Yep, pretty quick for me too - just a few days from memory.

    Replacement card

Yep, I want to keep the same number. That's the weird thing for me - surely they should be able to do this at the start of the final month rather than the middle? Hiding behind the 'the system won't let me' excuse seems lame for what's being sold as a premium product.

    Replacement card

So, my current card is due for expiry in October, so looking forward to receiving the new metal card. However I will be overseas for most of the month. I enquired (through Amex's webchat) as to when the replacement card was likely to be sent to me. When they said it would be sent on the 15th I...

Is International Virgin Reward availability now worse that QANTAS?

The availability looks like it's dried up to effectively nothing. I had no trouble grabbing a return SYD-LAX flight July/Aug last year - booked about 5 months prior. Now trying to book almost 12 months ahead and I can't find anything. Qantas on the other hand - no probs at all. Not always...

Qantas goes retro [To improve Brand Loyalty?]

Much better put than me...:) But I would also question the wisdom of the implicit message of the retro livery - i.e. Qantas was better in the old days. For a company with such a PR problem, is that really the best option? Surely the more logical action would be to re-position the airline as...

Qantas goes retro [To improve Brand Loyalty?]

And being replaced by Jetstar A330 hand me downs. While the new 737s are arriving with even more seats jammed into them if I'm not mistaken. Like I said, rather than going with a backwards looking marketing campaign, Qantas would do better to concentrate on the actual customer experience.

Qantas goes retro [To improve Brand Loyalty?]

RetroRoo: John Travolta unveils Qantas plane If Qantas wants to restore brand loyalty, perhaps a better way would be to invest in some modern planes, give passengers a little more leg room and make their prices more competitive. But hey, if they think a paint job from the 70s will do the...

JQ schedules 787 to HNL from Feb

I recognise it probably doesn't look good in the PR shots (five seats without a break isn't a good look), but purely from a practical (passenger comfort) point of view it would seem a better option.

JQ schedules 787 to HNL from Feb

They couldn't do 2-5-2? That way there's only one person who needs to climb over two seats to get to the aisle instead of two. Same number of seats, so profit figures are preserved.

JQ schedules 787 to HNL from Feb

Not denying that it has happened or that it's common, but a fair number of people I have spoken to don't like the three seats at each side layout (for the reason I highlighted). So I'm just wondering why the airlines have gone down this route?

JQ schedules 787 to HNL from Feb

Yep, I agree. I would be interested to hear the reasoning for changing the configuration. It means that both window seats for each row are now two seats away from the aisle. Very inconvenient.

Hawaii - no shopping, laying on the beach or snorkelling...

Love the Big Island! Drive through lava fields that look like the moon. In November if you're really lucky you might even see snow on top of Mauna Kea. One of the best experiences I've ever had was taking a helicopter tour over the Big Island - Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, Hawaii Helicopter...
