None seem to work for SYD-LAX in Sep '19

And to follow up after a couple of months of using it in Australia (and a couple of weeks in the US), I still haven't had a single issue with it.

Have had my new metal card for a couple of weeks now. Seems to be functioning normally so far, including tap and insert without any issues.

The availability looks like it's dried up to effectively nothing. I had no trouble grabbing a return SYD-LAX flight July/Aug last year - booked about 5 months prior. Now trying to book almost 12 months ahead and I can't find anything. Qantas on the other hand - no probs at all. Not always...

And being replaced by Jetstar A330 hand me downs. While the new 737s are arriving with even more seats jammed into them if I'm not mistaken. Like I said, rather than going with a backwards looking marketing campaign, Qantas would do better to concentrate on the actual customer experience.

I recognise it probably doesn't look good in the PR shots (five seats without a break isn't a good look), but purely from a practical (passenger comfort) point of view it would seem a better option.

They couldn't do 2-5-2? That way there's only one person who needs to climb over two seats to get to the aisle instead of two. Same number of seats, so profit figures are preserved.

Not denying that it has happened or that it's common, but a fair number of people I have spoken to don't like the three seats at each side layout (for the reason I highlighted). So I'm just wondering why the airlines have gone down this route?

Yep, I agree. I would be interested to hear the reasoning for changing the configuration. It means that both window seats for each row are now two seats away from the aisle. Very inconvenient.
