    Forced account closure

Amex does not ‘honour’ long term relationships. I had been with AMEX since 2003, always paid off my balance in full on time. Went from a 6000 limit to 30k to their ‘limitless’ platinum charge card in 2017 which they closed, on the second month because I put on it, around 20k within the same...

WARNING - Don’t use RewardPay/Amex to make a personal SMSF contribution.

As a final update, AMEX refused to compensate, opting for a pro-rata refund of the annual fee. They also cancelled my partner's accounts out of the blue and referred the recently charged balance of the annual fee on one of the cards to the collectors. Only after complaining to the FOS, showing...

WARNING - Don’t use RewardPay/Amex to make a personal SMSF contribution.

Quick update: I received a bunch of mail yesterday. 2 letters from AMEX, the first 'telling' that my accounts are cancelled and to cut the cards in half. The second is from the Exec Com team saying they received the complaint through from FOS and they will be 'reviewing the concerns raised'...

WARNING - Don’t use RewardPay/Amex to make a personal SMSF contribution.

Here's my 2 cents. All this happened while I was overseas. I've been with AMEX for almost 15 years. Never missed a payment. Put through hundreds of thousands easily. Referred a dozen of people. All of this down the drain. All I did was send 3 payments via PayPal to my s.o., she did the same...

    10% bonus on flybuys transfers

Thought of letting others know, transfers from flybuys are getting 10% bonus for at least the month of July. Neither VA nor flybuys seem to have advertised this yet. Was surprised to see it in my account after transferring.

EY First - book as VA codeshare?

Travel AMEX online and any travel agent can do it

    Lounge pass conditions

Anyone knows if the lounge passes issued under the VA Amex could be used without needing to be on a flight? I couldn't see any exclusions, just don't want to be turned away - accompanying someone who is flying J on the day. Thanks!

    Balance transfer on existing card

And you can do two balance transfers in order to use as much of the limit. The thing is, at 3% transfer fee, a BT is of little value. A year and a bit ago it was 2% and before that 1%.

    Balance transfer on existing card

May I ask what card is that? And was this a targeted offer via mail? Also was there a limit to the BT apart from the usual 95% of available balance?

    Out of Date Sandwiches

It says Made in Australia. I would be far more concerned with the amount of preservatives in this thing than its use by date. I wrote to VA few years back about a STONE in one of their pastries - back then I was gold well into getting plat, all I got was a promise for a follow up that...

    Balance transfer on existing card

At 18 months and 0% (effective 2% p.a. after the 3% BT fee) one cannot really pass this up, especially with a high credit limit. So I call up and ask. ANZ says no, existing cards only get 12 months not 18. This is the first time in 13 years with them where the existing card gets a different...

New Charge for Velocity Bookings on EY

It's all in good faith, has anyone been able to find F seats on EY recently to begin with? From EY/AA side they're visible and bookable, but VA says no.

VA cannot see reward availability on EY

I would have totally agreed with you if VA didn't change this suddenly few weeks ago. Before then availability through VA on EY was identical to EY's. The partnership (more like investment of EY in VA) you are referring to dates back to 2012.

VA cannot see reward availability on EY

Thanks travelislife. After doing further checks, Sat/Sun/Mon flights show as blocked on the vast majority of the weeks. And as already known, the online search tool is not always reflective of what the VA agents see (that goes both ways!). It's a shame really. VA actively blocking reward...
