Comair flights grounded by South African safety regulator [now liquidated]

Comair sold the SLOW lounges during their business rescue (local version of voluntary administration) to First National Bank to raise some cash - they're still operating under the same access rules, now owned by FNB.

QFF WP flying J on Emirates BNE - CPT. Is there any tie up still with QF?

Whilst that is the 'official rule', being based in CPT, and having flown EK a number of times on routes not part of the agreement (CPT-DXB-US for example), I have always been granted EK lounge access in all ports based on my QFF status - so worth a try in any case.

    QF B744 maintenance

I happened to be on the QF63 outbound after this sector and can confirm that said toilet problems recurred. We were told about 90 mins from JNB that several of the tanks were full and that we should use those in Y class, which most did, however as you can imagine the rush in that last hour led...

QF63 SYD to JNB B747 config

I've done the SYD-JNB and vv sectors a few times a year for the past five years, I've been low enough for ice sightings about four times. Winter seems to be the better season to do so - so you're in good stead. In most cases the flight deck have announced on the ground before departure that...

QF Gold not allowed access to EK Sydney lounge [flights to USA]

Anecdotally, I've never been knocked back from the EK lounges in JNB & CPT when travelling Y (on EK).

    Domestic South Africa Flights

A caution when booking domestic SA flights with BA (Comair) via Qantas.com, the co-pay is rather steep and it's almost always cheaper to book these as full fare directly with Comair (kulula.com). Saves cash, pick up some status credits and still have access to the SLOW lounge, where applicable.

Maximising Cape Town to Melbourne experience

Hi coyote25, I've done this trip almost quarterly for the last few years. BA should be able to tag the bags through to MEL, though noting collection in SYD for customs. Here in CPT, the SLOW lounge is more than adequate. It's generally quieter upstairs, and also affords some sweeping views of...

    Seats QF 64 8/8/13

Some awesome pics there! I do this route several times a year and have only managed to get similar views once or twice, generally in winter. The 'A' side is definitely the side for views on the 63, however the 64 flies almost completely through the night until close to home, so little chance...

SYD to JNB best J seats for couple

I've travelled this route almost every other month for several years now. IME it's really a lucky dip as to what config you end up on. These sectors usually show the old first config operating far out and will then be confirmed around T-72hrs, although note I have had late changes (as many as...
