A very long run comes to an end...

I know how the OP feels. I have had WP status for 12 years, and had WP1 status for 3 consecutive years. The WP1 status was nice, but underwhelming for the commitment. I still like the WP benefits and aim for WP each year (although they have also been diluted and I particularly miss the ability...

AAdvantage points booking to Europe - advice needed

You should note that AA have just published their updated awards table, which will be effective for booking made after the end of the year - required miles go up significantly, so make sure you get your booking done and ticketed before December 31.

Reflections of a high status QF FF on first ever flight on Virgin

As a long time elite QFF member, I never thought I would fly Virgin. I have no shortage of QF miles and have been P1 for some time now. However, Virgin recently did a deal with my work to offer frequent flyers gold virgin status. Sure, it's not a complete status match, which would have made...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Sorry, you're right - I was getting myself confused between my Black WBC altitude and my ANZ black rewards. I had not actually appreciated the point about 3 years to expiry on the rewards card. not likely to be a problem, but worth keeping in mind.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Why wouldn't you simply get the ANZ black altitude? Allows you to direct to several airlines while also allowing you to bank points with no expiry.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I agree with all of that - it was just "between the lines" of my email ;) If the points are going to Altitude, they are also likely to be more valuable going to CX rather than SQ.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

ANZ Black still pays (both Visa and Amex) WBC Black Amex also does. Can't comment on the others. On my analysis, WBC black Amex earns more FF points than the other cards (except for those still holding the no-longer issued WBC KrisFlyer card), although ANZ black Visa earns (fewer points) at a...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Not correct. Westpac does earn, but at 0.75 FF miles instead of 1.5. It think it still makes it the most attractive card for transfers to CX. May also be best for SQ if you don;t already have the KrisFlyer card (which is no longer being issued). Happy to be corrected.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

The trick with the ANZ black (amex or visa - earning to altitude) is that they have a very poor transfer rate to CX/SQ of 3:1, whereas Westpac tfrs at 2:1 - 50% better.

Also WBC black altitude, although i think this is down to 1.5 altitude points to the dollar now?

Qantas extends priority boarding to SG frequent flyers

Perhaps, but what about all the WPs who want to use priority boarding? Strategically, I would have thought that they are more important than SGs, as many WPs fly up the front internationally and have many more options when flying o/s. If you start taking away the domestic incentives, you...

Qantas extends priority boarding to SG frequent flyers

I would be very surprised if there were "many" P1s who fly on best fare of the day. There may be a few, but not many. More generally, I think that this is one of the worst decisions by QF (of many to choose from) in a very long time. This truly has been one of the most valuable benefits of...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

What do mean about Westpac culling??? The black cards still earn miles at ATO.
