That's correct. It's one of those unfortunate cracks that's easy to fall into when managing things yourself. A mistake you're unlikely to make twice!

It might be worth calling them to check. It could be something simple like the application asking for weekly expenses and you've accidentally put a monthly amount, which quadruples expenses. I've had that in the past.

I've used Fly Ahead with checked luggage probably 20+ times. It's never been an issue, so it seems they rarely enforce this rule.

Platinum members can call up and request to fly ahead over the phone now. Usually you have to request this on the day of travel but since it's such an early flight they might let you do it the day before if you ask nicely.

That or PP noticed a discrepancy in the use of this benefit from AMEX cardholders vs other demographics and didn't offer AMEX the same fixed price to renew memberships this year. All speculation of course.

Yep, even got double SC's from the last promotion. It's the equivalent of Getaway fares though so I got 7 SCs each way.

I've had a conversation with Amex confirming that so long as you have tickets back to Australia it doesn't matter whether they are return, single tickets, open jaw etc. etc. Best to call and get this on record against your account if it might impact you as YMMV.
