    My lucky QF A380 moment

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, its great being in a forum where everyone understands the excitement I experienced. Fortunately we got the full J service.:p The only time we appeared to be treated differently was when the pyjamas were handed out about an hour into the flight. The CA...

    My lucky QF A380 moment

My mum always said you shouldn't boast, but I just have to share this story... I turned up last Wednesday for my QF12 LAX-SYD flight home on a 744. On check-in I was pleased to find my upgrade to Premium Y had come through. After a quick stop in the lounge, I arrived at the gate just as the...

Premium Y - LAX to SYD

A seat on the delivery flight? Priceless! :p I'm on a 747 on the way back... strange how suddenly that seems so old fashioned...

Premium Y - LAX to SYD

Just booked a US trip, leaving in 3 weeks. On checking my booking tonight I discovered the option was available to upgrade to premium economy, which was a surprise as I didn't think that was available on this route. I'm on the 380 outbound, so happy to sample Y for the first time on that...

    What makes a "Frequent" flyer?

This year I've done 3x US trips, 1x Asia trip, 4 domestic trips and I'm off to Bangkok next week, so compared to some here I am a sort-of-frequent flyer, but to others (like my mum) I appear to be a super frequent flyer. But given that every trip is discount economy, I will just fall over the...

QF on line check in - no time saver

Thanks for the tip. I used OLCI yesterday for the first time, but only after completing the process realised the printer had no ink.... I ended up having to queue at BNE airport check in with my boarding pass on a USB key, so next time it will be straight to the QC desk for me

    How many airlines?

Qantas, Virgin Blue, US Airways, Delta, Jetstar, American, Southwest. Having tasted what US domestic has to offer, I can only say that we should enjoy what we have with DJ and JQ while it lasts. US domestic is like to catching a bus in peak hour and hoping you get a seat!

    Business class options

SFO is absolutely better for customs clearance, and if you are transferring for a domestic flight it is much simpler than LAX. Generally it is a more modern and travel friendly airport. There are a couple of downsides to going through SFO - it is quite prone to fog so delayed flights are a...

    Business class options

Maybe I am lucky, but I am 3 from 3 for points upgrade requests for 3 US trips this year. If you can travel via SFO instead of LAX my experience is that J class is at best 75% full, so the upgrade is a given

    Are you a Flying @rse?

2 for me too... i subscribe to the theory that if you are stuck in the middle seat you've earned the right for both armrests, but if you give them up for any length of time it's game on! Speaking of arm rests, the "best" experience I've had was waking up in J class to find my seat mate had...
