    What cheeses me off

@JohnK Do they have access to a Council-sponsored aged persons handyman? I would try that first as it is in the Council's interest to stop the area going downhill with graffiti vandalism.

That rabbit is a skilled low relief carver, achieving a fossil-like appearance within the outer skin.

Cash or Card? Countries where you still need cash.

Cash or card on the Greek islands, e.g. Paros, Delos, Hydra?

Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Pleasant surprise in the latest delivery of cheap reds from Organic Wines: my favourite from the previous delivery, the Miracle on the Vine Merlot 2019, came in a litre bottle rather than 750ml - presumably sold off because of the mis-labelling. ETA: and I see this is my 500th post.

Death of the in flight magazine

Not only that, but no physical reading matter in the T3 Silvekris Lounge. Not having a mobile phone I was seriously disappointed.

Is that medical form for Ponant required for all their cruiases, or was it specific for the Antarctic one?

A good chiropractor or kinesiologist might be able to fix that.

    LHR hotels?

I paid £215 for a single room in late June this year. That was with a senior's discount and without breakfast. For me the closeness to both the terminal and the coach station was worth it as I was then walking with a stick and difficulty.

    LHR hotels?

Kamal there was very helpful when I had problems paying with my UK credit card.

    LHR hotels?

More modest than the Sofitel, Hilton Garden Inn T2 & 3 (not the one with similar name that is not actually at the airport). Not very well signposted from the terminal but easily accessed across an interior car park (worth looking up instructions in advance on how to find it). My room was quiet...

    Ruminations from the Silver Muse.

Yes, but it was the order of the prohibitions and their simplicity that I found amusing.

    Ruminations from the Silver Muse.

I recall a temple in or near Kyoto that had a warning sign at the driveway entrance: No onions No garlic No women

@Flyfrequently How long did it take you to recover from shingles in the eye? I deveioped the condition in the first week of August and, given my age, fully expected recovery to be slow, but am now wondering if I should seek referral to an opthamologist.

    The smok'n trip to Bali

No handrails on any of those steep steps? Be very careful, especially if still feeling sub-par.

    Taxis for Grown Ups

I'm still having trouble getting through to Jimmy's number. The answering machine allows only the very briefest of messages and they don't ring me back. Is it because I'm phoning from a landline number, not a mobile? And what's the optimum time to book ahead?
