Biggest juxtaposition between luxury (from points) and budget (from money)?

I buy and earn frequent flyer points to ensure that my wife and I fly to and from Europe in Business class because the thought of a night time flight in sardine class just melts my brain. However, once I land in Europe, I budget $150 AUS a night . This often includes a comfortable bed and a...

Downgraded without notification - what are my options?

This is often not a "Qantas" decision, but by someone who knows how the system works and can shift the seats accordingly for a fellow pilot. Something like this happened to us , but while some Qantas staff apologised but said there was nothing they could do, another staff member was able to fix...

    Qantas Points Club Discussion

That's an interesting philosophy ...why wouldn't you motivate people to spend more on their various products to encourage a points plus club level when it costs you very little extra to do so? Isn't it all about the revenue verses cost or am I missing something?

Which is the best airline to fly from Australia to Bali?

I love flying business class no matter the airline, but I will always prefer a daytime flight to a red eye. So that means that flying to and from Adelaide, it's business to Bali and Jetstar during the day back. Even the worst airline daytime flight is better than 4 hours sleep and all the...

    Qantas Points Club Discussion

Why not allow points club plus members who already have access to Qantas lounges the ability to upgrade to a first or business class lounge?

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

Where else can you get top class hotels for half the price of similar ones in Australia? You get your money back from the airfare cost after only a few days. Still, I don't care if people "don't get it ?" ..the less people who do "get it" , the better.

    What's your dream flight?

It's a bit like hamburgers...after costing $20 it is hard to improve it with more money. I flew once in First class Emirates and even the Dom Perignon started to taste like the Moet after the first glass. For someone who finds sleeping impossible with a seatbelt on in a narrow bed, it becomes...

    Priority Pass guests (Amex)

It states that an Amex Platinum charge card holder can take two people in with them.. or (I think) the whole (direct) family. It states this.. "2 guests OR immediate family (spouse & children under 17) have complimentary access." Beware though that some lounges may have stricter rules.

Priority Pass lounge Ngurah Rai Bali

Just checked...Concordia International Bali lounge is now open for Priority Pass and Amex Platinum. Must have only reopened their doors yesterday.

Priority Pass lounge Ngurah Rai Bali

Priority Pass now lists Concordia (International) Lounge in Bali International airport. Strangely Amex Platinum Charge card doesn't list it yet but I think it has only this week become available. Or it is a glitch in the system. Who knows? Mastercard airport lounges lists it though. No booze...

Etihad Guest to "simplify" award charts. Devaluation likely

I quickly booked a business class Adelaide to Brisbane flight for myself and wife (12,500 points each) a few nights ago to beat the changes, and am glad I did. It is 1,006 miles to fly Adelaide to Brisbane and that seems to suggest that it is now 30,000 points per person now. The points came...

Article: Virgin Business Class: Domestic Tops International

It is all about the bottom line. You are not comparing apples with apples, so you have to weigh it all up. Luckily I have access to lounges with my credit card, and as long as it is a day time flight, I am fine with it if the price is right.

    Airport bag handling video

This wasn't just sloppy behaviour, but deliberately destructive. It looked like they would be very happy if they contained something breakable within them.

Calling for volunteers to take a later flight (and pocket $2,700)

No, not anti-hotel, but it is a strangely one-way street when it comes to these situations. I once booked a sweet clubroom in a Perth hotel at a very cheap but un-refundable rate during their fly-in/fly-out heyday hotel period when hotels were often selling for $400+ a night. My trip was...

Calling for volunteers to take a later flight (and pocket $2,700)

Changing the subject a tad, I recently booked business class flight for two to Budapest next year using points arriving on the 21st July, so I quickly booked 3 nights in a reasonable hotel for a good rate of $150 including breakfast. I then saw a better hotel, so I booked that for a similar...
