Looking at using QFF points to purchase a JQ ticket. Only options through Q website are Starter and Max. If I purchase Starter fare can I then purchase baggage separately on Jetstar website? The Max bundle is overkill. Starter plus some baggage would be ok.

What's the deal with 48A? Much protrusion to worry about? It's only $30 to choose that for Melb-LAX compared to $180 for 80A. I'm thinking I could manage with 48A and then pay the $180 for 80A on the return leg home for extra comfort/sleep. Won't be sleeping much on the wy over anyway I reckon.

They are white crosses. Lots of seats actually- I'd say half the plane blocked/white crossed. Less than 10 seats actually allocated in economy. Why would they block so many seats

According to expert flyer 80A and 80K are both available for the return leg which is great. Flight over a slight issue as I'd most likely be on the 747-400...and according to Expert Flyer all the exit row seats (plus a heap more) have been blocked off (not occupied) by Qantas....not sure why...

Thanks for all the replies. If I ring Qantas with flight numbers prior to booking will they be able to advise if certain seats are available still? That way, I can change dates if need be.

Trust me I am very familiar with being crippled on flights. Hate flying for that reason. Hence why I need to take advantage of not having the kids with me. I'll be devastated if there are no extra leg room seats available.
