Air New Zealand to wetlease a WAMOS A330 for the AKL-PER route for the NW (Australian Summer) months.

Air NZ recently changed the offering for PER, HNL and PPT to be normal full service in Y, so they don't have Seats to Suit product options on those routes anymore (irrespective of Wamos).

    Self-connecting in AKL

Agreed with @serfty, even with hand luggage only, it’s a high risk strategy. Assuming it’s two bookings, if you’ve been able to check in T-24 hours with Air NZ for the AKL-ADL sector, I guess you could technically use the transit lane at AKL, but even so, you need the KE flight to be on time and...

NZ relocation as a VA Plat. Switch to Air NZ?

This card is only available to Australian residents so would exclude someone living in NZ.

NZ relocation as a VA Plat. Switch to Air NZ?

If you're going to be based here for a while, remember that a number of Airpoints earning credit cards also have status earning ability, so that helps get to Gold or Elite.

HSBC Star Alliance credit card in Australia

Remember that you only need to choose an airline for the status piece (which can be changed annually), but the Star Rewards points can be transferred into any of the participating carriers FFP (as long as you're a member) whenever you want, i.e. they aren't swept across every month, so it's...

If you've qualified for status through flying, that would superseed anything related to this card.

Why are airfares now so High?

This all sounds a little conspiracy theorist... As others have said, two main reasons; Supply and demand Fuel price is very high You can put to bed your idea that they're reducing seat numbers due to sickness, load factors are extrememly high for many routes.

Non refundable fares SYD - AKL

Correct, your situation is booking a fully refundable fare which is binding and will be refunded if you want, no matter the circumstance. RooFlyer88 is referring to refunds in the case of cancelled flights, which varies airline to airline, and country to country.

Non refundable fares SYD - AKL

As you go through the booking process on the website, there is an option to make the fare refundable. So just select the flight/cabin you want, then on the next page or two, you can check the box to make it refundable (and naturally the extra cost will be added to the price).

    Lounge Access Help Desk

I hate to say it, but pretty unlikely. HA use Plaza Premium lounge in SYD which has no affiliation with VA, NZ, QR, etc as it's completely independent. And whilst they have their own lounge in HNL, HA don't have any partnerships with VA, NZ, QR, etc...
