An Update: I decided to try twitter to contact BA and to my surprise I received a message back promptly asking for my full details and exactly what compensation I was seeking. I explained about having booked x2 Eurostar tickets (at 173 euro each) and the loss of 12,000 QFF points (but with the...
Thanks all for the useful suggestions. I'm happy to stay with the Eurostar (happy to avoid BA for the time being), but will start with my travel insurance and then if no luck BA and finally Qantas again. See how I go.
Yes, that is exactly what happened - the flights were not cancelled as it turned out. In manage my booking on BA yesterday there were no options for changing or cancelling flights (presumably because it was a QFF award ticket) and it said to contact BA in Australia (Mon-fri 9-5). I actually did...
So I received an email from BA yesterday telling me that my flight from LHR to LYS on Sep 8th was cancelled due to the pilot's strike. 2 tickets - both QFF award in J. So I went ahead and made alternative travel arrangements (Eurostar - unchangeable without a fee). Fares were escalating by the...
Thanks for that. The funny thing was, when i was talking to the agent I could 'see' that there was a Hkg-Bne J award seat available on the QF website for the following day (when I'm now travelling) but the agent insisted that there wasn't any availability. I assured him it was showing up online...
Thanks for your helpful replies. No I didn't push the accommodation consideration when speaking to them because I was worried a downgrade was coming as there was no availability at all in J (award) to any port in Australia the next day. After I made some noises about Qantas must surely have an...
Just looking for some advice. I have a J award ticket Bru-Dxb-Hkg-Syd-Mel but the connection in Hkg has just become untenable because of a schedule change for the Hkg-Syd flight (QF118). After discussing with the QF service centre, I have been re-booked (initially reluctantly) onto QF30...
I had a similar (but not identical) dilemma a couple of months ago. I was flying QF9 (revenue J) to LHR and then (via a separate booking) onto MXP on BA with a J award ticket. Qantas website indicates where there is an award flight plus a revenue flight, the luggage should be checked through -...
I recently travelled QF9 to LHR on a revenue ticket connecting to an award flight on BA to MXP (so 2 separate tickets). Was concerned about having my luggage checked through to MXP but at Mel airport (admittedly at 1st class checkin) they sorted it out no worries (as per the Qantas website)...
Thanks for the replies and info. Lots of cheap seats and was I able to get x2 confirmed upgrades as a bonus! Hmmm - which players will be in J, or maybe just the officials?
I notice that there is a 767 flying direct Adl to Hba on Mon Jan 27th (QF1221), and then onto Sydney later the same day (as QF1222). It appears to be a once off. Anyone know why this plane is flying this route? I don't think 767's have ever flown regularly to Hba.
Re: QF7 - No Row 4?
Actually Mrs. Lancet and I flew the reconfig 747 to EZE (the second last flight) in March and returned from SCL on LAN on a A340 - both in J. We had seats 2A and 2B on the way over and 2J and 2L back on LAN. Both flights and seating arrangements were very comfortable and...
