Qantas rage - meager 10k 'goodwill' points for my troubles

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I had not expected so many or such thoughtful replies. I'll send an email to the CCO outlining my experience. Then I'm done. Don't care if I get more points or even a response. I'm letting it go. I just feel the need to outline (concisely and dispassionately)...

can I get better AMEX upgrade offer - only 20k pts - or just close?

Thanks @sudoer. I appreciate the input. Interesting to see how different countries treat credit reports. Length of credit history factors in US & not so much here. I'll ask AmEx about other options, as you suggested, and then close asap depending on their response. Let me ask you this re...

can I get better AMEX upgrade offer - only 20k pts - or just close?

I've had an AMEX Discover card since 2016 (making me a poor churner). Looking to close so the 18 month timeout clock starts. I know back in the day, cardholders had some luck in upgrading. From what I understand, it was fewer points than what was on offer to new members but still a fair whack...

Qantas rage - meager 10k 'goodwill' points for my troubles

Looking for some advice about 'goodwill' points credited after a Qantas battle. This is the result of a year long adventure in trying to secure a refund. Long story short - I booked several flights using points, had to cancel, got points back but was still due the taxes I paid. Took a full...

medical lab debt / impact on credit report

Just to close this out - in the end, I just paid the amount and am moving on. As @BAM1748 (plus a mortgage broker I know) said, it's not worth losing sleep over. I track my credit report pretty regularly so will see if/when it shows and what kind of impact it has. Thanks to all for input.

medical lab debt / impact on credit report

Thanks for the input, @Dr Ralph. I suspected it was not as clear cut as the 'nice man on the phone' told me. It was the 'medical debt is treated differently' - which I suppose is what this lab bill is - that made me wonder. Any tips about navigating this? I don't feel like I have any leverage...

medical lab debt / impact on credit report

Quick one re a debt that's been handed over to a bad debt agency - While away on holiday in Dec, I received a final notice from a medical lab company. I've just spoken with them, the bill is legit (not covered by Medicare bc I'd had same test twice in one year) and I am happy to pay the $25...

    AA account locked

Okay, feeling a bit better now. It's definitely not a selling or bartering situation. Pretty straightforward - relative wants to see me and is happy to use her miles to get me over there. She started reading the fine print on using miles to book a ticket for someone else or vouchers or...

    AA account locked

@MEL_Traveller, when you say redeeming flights for other people might be one of the activities in contravention of AA rules... I have a family member with some AA miles to burn who wants to book a ticket for me. This is allowed, right? Relative lives in US, I'm in Aus. Plan is to use their...

Turkish Airlines - any adv to being based in Australia vs US?

Am about to register an account with TA's Miles&Smiles. Is there any advantage to being based in US over Australia? I can easily show evidence for either but didn't know if it would ever matter one way or another. Does it matter with any airline?

Am I eligible for NAB points bonus if I have a Citibank card?

I certainly hope they don't. Narrows the world of churn options.

    family transfers

Useful info above. Thanks all for the responses. You are correct in that I am not aiming to sell - I like my points, tyvm. ;) Goal was to lock in availability for a friend who is low on points for a few months. Once he's flush with points again, would reimburse my points used by...

    family transfers

How strict is Qantas on 'eligible family member' and how does it have to be proven? If two people have same address, can they claim half-siblings or domestic partners? Or would evidence be needed?

Am I eligible for NAB points bonus if I have a Citibank card?

My handy credit card calendar tells me I will be eligible for a NAB points card in a few months. I've served my 12 months in the time out box and am ready to have them give me some more freq flyer points. However, is their recently acquisition of Citibank going mess up my plans? I currently...
