As far as I know, all 343 (aka 34B in CX speak) have coffins, arranged in 1-1-1.

Hi all
Just go an updated aircraft notification from myflights that my CX flight HKG-JED-HKG was switched to an A340-300. Given they have flown regional jets on this flight I was a bit nervous.
Having checked on line the seating options show (in J):
X-XX
I have never seen this before. On the 777 with coffins the seat map generally shows:
X-X-X
The seat map pdf on the CX website shows:
/ \ \
WHich generally indicates coffins.
Is this a new aircraft/fit out?
Any ideas?

Would seem to suggest the seats are facing out from the walls, which is the new layout. Unless I’m reading that upside down.
Facing out from the walls is the old configuration. This sounds like the standard 34B CX layout, with coffins.
Probably due to the centre (D) seats facing the same way as the right (K) seats the selection maps show them as being together without an aisle, but it is the normal 1-1-1 layout. For single travellers the K seats, while on the seat selection map look to be the worst, are probably the best as A and D seats share an aisle while K seats get the right aisle to themselves.
One would imagine that we're never going to see a new CX A340-300 seat layout as the airline has stated that they're leaving the fleet and won't be getting new onboard products.
I don't like these seating setups
Maybe I am just confusing myself - does the A340 usually do the SYD-HKG flight?
It might be a quirk of the new booking system but previously when flying SYD-HKG in the coffins it always showed on the seat map as X-X-X - maybe I haven't flown an A340 on CX before...

SYD-HKG is normally a 330
that's what I thought - though the same layout then as the A340 just presented differently on the seat map...
