Anyne getting it fee free for life?
What did you do?
I can get the first year fee free.....but told cannot get for life? mmmmm
Using the 3X other fee FREE Plat card at the moment anyways

There is no such thing as a fee free for life Altitude Platinum. The only Westpac Platinum card that can be had fee free on an ongoing basis, is the standard (i.e. non reward) platinum card, provided you meet the min. spend each year. That's not to say you can't get the Altitude Platinum fee free for many years, by ringing each year, but not for life.

When I first signed up for an investment loan package back in 2009 a rep agreed to sign me up for Altitude Platinum fee free "for life". I wish I took a recording of that call, because every subsequent year I've had to argue to have it waived. The rep might have made a mistake.

Last year they started cracking down and I was given a waiver "one last time" as a courtesy (they took a note of it on my file). This year, they flat out refused the refund, so I had to close the card...

... and they waived it for me for another 12 months :-D

We'll see whether I'll get lucky again next year, but I think I've already dodged the bullet too many times in this game of Russian Roulette. Oddly though, the rep told me that I couldn't even downgrade to the Gold card any more, as it wasn't part of my loan package. But then I went and looked it up online and there, clear as day, Altitude Gold fee free for Premier Advantage. Otherwise, I'd have had 90 days to redeem my points before the account is closed.

I had mine waived last year,

I was already on half price annual fee but decided to call up and ask which they did reverse the $150 annual fee, will try again when the next annual fee is due.

Interesting. Just got this card...fee free for first year. Will have to call at the end of the 1st year and ask again, I guess...

Just used one to pay the ATO as the first transaction. I think I will warehouse the points for awhile.

You can get it fee free for life if you're a Westpac employee - which my girlfriend is

Gonna cancel my Amex Platinum charge as that has same earn rate (i think)

I wanna give this card a try (after my amex plat), but am too cheap to pay the annual fee....
if it's good, i am happy to pay for it as it's cheaper than my plat anyway.

I asked nicely and they said YES but only for one year as Iwas getting rid of the useless Gold version of the card as it came due for renewal.
