Yes paid by credit card, but its only one flight out of seven booked through the Q owned travelk centre. Should be ok I think. I spoke to them today and they said that they will arrange alternate flights> I guess they will give priority with people with more immediate travel on mexicana and they will work through the post September travellers in due course.
But yes thanks for the advice on the CC, since Q have charged my CC I assume I can raise it with them and probbably get credit towards the re ticketing for my LAX -Mexico city leg ( if the cost is substantially higher).
Updated response from QF:
Changes to Qantas Ticketed Bookings on Mexicana
Qantas Commercial Policy
31 August 2010
As of Saturday 28 August 2010, Mexicana Airlines has suspended all operations until further notice. No new bookings on Mexicana services can be made while its operations remain suspended.
This situation is beyond Qantas' control and we regret any inconvenience caused. We encourage customers wishing to travel to Mexico to consider services offered by other Qantas partner airlines, such as American Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
The following commercial policy outlines the options available to passengers holding a valid Qantas ticket issued on or before 28 August 2010 who wish to make changes to their bookings.
Passengers may, without fee:
• Re-route travel to/from their original destination using alternate carriers American Airlines (AA) and Alaskan Airlines (AS) only (refer to the booking class table below)
• Bypass original destination as a stopover point and continue to the next ticketed destination via the most direct routing using Qantas, American Airlines (AA) or Alaskan Airlines (AS)
• Retain the value of the ticket in credit for future travel within 12 months of original ticket issue date. If the new fare is more expensive than the existing ticket fare, the fare difference is payable by the passenger. Applicable ticket taxes may apply
Conditions
• The new flight must be for the same cabin of travel (e.g. First, Business or Economy)
• The permitted booking classes for AA and AS are outlined in the booking class table below.
• Refunds will be offered where travel has not commenced and fees waived for tickets issued prior to 28 August 2010
• Any third party costs/penalties, such as hotel or other ground operator fees incurred will not be waived by Qantas
• All other rules and conditions of the ticket remain unchanged

Thanks Guys
QF have now put me on Alaska Airlines for my flight to Mexico City.Same date and about and a couple of hours earlier. Not bad at all. Love the good service![]()
Great news! AS is a lovely airline as well, in case you haven't flown on them before.
No havent flown AS before Notzac. Should be good.
Mexicana might be back up and running as early as next month according to news this week, but with a much smaller fleet.

Unions Back Mexicana Revival
Dec 13, 2010
Mexicana de Aviacion’s latest revival plan has been approved by the company’s three main unions, a hurdle that now enables the carrier potentially to resume service in late January.
The most recent restructuring of the bankrupt carrier envisions a Jan. 24 relaunch with a fleet of as many as 19 Airbus narrowbodies, a slight delay but a larger fleet than intended in a plan revealed to Aviation Week late last month (Aviation Daily, Nov. 24).

Good to hear, hope they can focus on getting themselves running properly again and hopefully stay in the alliance, as I’d like to use them to go to Cuba someday (following in notzac’s footsteps)![]()
