Can a SQ J-redemption with a long layover be a Stopover?

Just looking at booking the family on a JASA MEL/LAX nearly a year out. I know you can't book a stopover when the booking is more than six-months out, but if I book a Melbourne to LA flight with a two-day layover in Singapore, can we get our bags in Singapore when we get off the Melbourne flight and recheck in for the connecting flight two days later? Or are our bags held at the airport "in-transit" for the connecting flight. If they are kept in security, I guess we could go shopping in Singapore and buy new clothes. I'm just worried about waiting until six months out from the flight and finding no availability.

With questions like this you should call the Kris flyer 02 number as they are most helpful.
They may have visibility or knowledge of plane schedule changes where you could maybe do a 3 hour stop over in Changi get showered and changed by using the J lounge. The only thing missing is deodorant in the lounge showers and they are kept immaculate.

Seems like a long way to get from MEL to LAX but just out of curiosity, how many KF miles are they charging for this route (given 24h 20m layover) is really a SIN stopover, rather than a transit. Depending on the answer, I might have to explore this route in the future and visit my sis in SIN enroute to the USA.

I think it's around 340K points for four one-way J tix. I'm looking for options that I can take my teenage boys with us on a business trip. Don't want a Risky Business situation when I get back. Plus the flight time between SING and LAX is much the same as MEL-LAX, and we can do a couple of days showing them a bit of Singapore.

I also strongly suggest you call KF and clarify this - I am sure in past I have on a number of occasions booked MEL-SIN-LAX months ahead maybe up to 300+days with several days stopover in SIN both on outboound AND inbound - never heard this 6mth bit before - but call and clarify yourself.

Since introduction of 380 and 77W MEL-SIN-LAX Savers were restricted to MEL-SIN-NRT-LAX and return - then they replaced 747 0n NRT run last year with 380 which stopped that - but i did that run many times - loved it - would love to have been able to measure just how much CH or Bolly I consumed on those flts.

Apparently on a Saver you can't book a stop-over over six months out. You can on a Standard.

You are allowed one stopover on a Saver return, none on a o/w.
On a Standard you are allowed a stopover both o/w and return.
Savers have a six month validity, Standards have 12 months.

You can definitely get your bags out. I've done it with less than 24 hours in SIN. And it was KUL-SIN-LAX too.
