In order to redeem on MH, I think you need to visit an MH office (or equivalent as delegated by MH). There is no online awards booking system that I'm aware of.

"Through online access, Enrich members above the age of 18 years can now redeem Enrich Miles for Economy Class tickets on Malaysia Airlines. Flight redemptions may be made for one passenger for each transaction."

(Not particularly useful.)

I'm not sure if you need to pay taxes/charges on a MH award, but if you do, they are rather high. Then again, so is VS (at least ex-LHR they are ).

Doesn't that apply to everyone ex-LHR these days?

On Enrich, I recently cashed in 37.5K points for return J class MEL-KUL-MEL - on a 50% discount special that runs to the end of May. Taxes were a bit high ($400) but nevertheless I was happy with the overall award being in J class.

Now some tips, the (Adelaide based?) Enrich call centre aren't necessarily difficult to deal with, but do take a long time to get through to. To get around this I called their Malaysia number to check availability and later to make the booking. They also allowed my to hold booking for about 5 days before ticketing, but had to call back the Australian call centre to actually do the ticketing - which is where the 25 mins on hold came into the equation.

I much prefer to have the choice of SQ/VS for my Amex points.

My CBA plat points will be going to Velocity.

as i have more of a reason to travel higher up the plane! But unfortunately most of the places we go to are in Rome, Paris (most of the good cruises leave from there) !

I believe you could use emirates to these destinations and it owuldbe one stop through dubai.

MH rates even with the 4/3 conversion factor to Amex is still better than QF, but for me since I have QF status I prefer using QF/OW for my travel.

I'm not intending to pay for tickets on MH/VS, only travel on them with awards redeemed by AMEX points. More keen on VS though even if via SYD - VS CH at LHR is always good.

For paid travel I'd still be doing 100% QF if not OW and putting miles to AA.

I see this CC points thing as an opportunity to check out airlines I'd otherwise never pay to fly.

Could you provide more information about this "50% discount special"?

I can't find any information about it on MH online, in my MH Enrich portal, and I haven't received any Enrich newsletters recently.

Cheers for that. Unfortunately, like most good promotions, (a) my destination/sector isn't listed there, and (b) the travel dates (must complete travel by 31 May) doesn't suit my schedule. But good to know where you found it.

Status is one of the main reasons I want to continue to book with QF, or Oneworld, but I am not going to be forced into doing it by a deadline.

I have close to 300,000 MR points that are going to be looking for a home soon and I prefer to use them for a RTW in WHY....

Tonight : Updated my Avis Wizard profile to credit points to Krisflyer replacing QFF of past 7 years

Interesting flow on effects from the Qantas move:

I am interested in what happens, in part because I suspect Qantas has failed with their attempt.

There are parts of me which wished I'd transferred a huge amount of points before the transfer period ended, but as per previous posts I refused to based on my strong beliefs that Qantas should not dominate the FF market in this particular way.
