    Platinum Lost?

The BA strike has resulted in the cancellation of two of my flights. The loss of SC's from these could well cause me to miss WP.

Do I have any chance of getting QF to gift me the SC's or even comp me WP status?

    Re: Platinum Lost?

    Hi

If there has ever been a valid reason this could be it.....however....QF are not at fault and as you need to qualify for WP I can not see you getting it, if you were only requalifying you may have stood a chance.

It can't hurt to ask though but I would not get my hopes up.

Have you thought of rebooking on QF CX or AA to get the SC's?

Surely this fits into "involuntary re-routing", and a letter of explanation to Qantas (or a phonecall might work) should see the points being credited.

I suppose the question does remain - Are you actually going to be flying those sectors, or instead are they just being refunded?

If you're going to fly those sectors then Qantas may well credit you the SCs given the situation, especially if they were the ones who contacted you to inform you of the cancellation and/or helped rebook other flights.

On an AONE4 last year (ticketed through Qantas) I was due to fly LAS-LAX-SFO with AA but the LAS-LAX aircraft went mechanical and was delayed 24 hours. AA managed to get me onto a US Airways flight (in First) LAS-SFO direct so I could make my next appointment in SFO that evening rather than waiting for the next day.

After contacting Qantas and sending through my US Airways boarding pass I was credited with the SCs and FF points as if I had flown the two AA sectors.

I wouldn't suggest that this response is contractually required but all I did was ask Qantas and they were more than happy to credit the points and SCs once I'd proved that I had actually flown those sectors.

I hope you have the same success.

Flights cancelled were CDG-LHR-VIE. I've replaced them with CDG-VIE on Austrian.

BA and unions still talking here. I almost hope they don't go back

Did you book new flight or BA put you on this flight? In theory you should be able to claim "original routing credit" as the flights were cancelled by the airline.

Not sure how QF will interpret cancellation due to strike action as opposed to cancellation due to unserviceable aircraft.

A few years ago I had a Finnair flight which was due to arrive ~9 hours late and I was given a list of flights and chose Emirates BKK-HKG and CX for HKG-BKK. Then another Finnair flight was cancelled and I was put on LX BKK-SIN. Had no problem claiming "orginal routing credit" for any of those flights.

Unless this is a QF numbered flight, QF would be very unlikely to credit SC's against non revenue generating flights (regardless of reason!) - if it was your business, would you?

Get smart and rebook on a QF flight (or other carrier) and earn the SC's. Remember the golden rule of SC's, if your bums not in the seat, you're not going to earn

    Mr!
Not many QF flight numbers between CDG and VIE

But this does raise the question i had. Everyone has talked about requesting original routing credits from QFF. But if flying on another airline, is it the other airline that is doing the crediting? So if I fly BA, I give them my QF number they then tell QF what points I get etc. and maybe pay QF. (With v.v. happening for a BA pax on QF). Is that how it works, or is the point side all controlled by QF, with the only info being BA telling them that the QF pax did the flight?

Not quite true as per my example above.

QF does not have codeshare flights on this route.

Unfortunately I don't have time for extra flights to get any extra credits.

Interesting point is that neither BA nor QF actually told me about the cancellation directly. BA sent out a general email advising me to check the bookings. They were cancelled, disappeared from Manage my Booking and no alternative was offered.
