Hi All
Noticed the Emirates free upgrade offer to F on one leg of a J fare and the thought occured to me that possibly Qantas might like to have a look at offering a means of matching offers to its elite members, I am seriously thinking of taking up the emirates offer to Sin in a few weeks time.
I would imagine it would work like this:
1. You login to your QFF account
2. Select bid desk or match that fare or whatever it could be called.
3. Enter offer details from the competitor.
4. Enter you preferred QF flights for the same offer.
5. Enter Credit card details for payment.
Once entered the application is looked at by Qantas and ticketed if doable or denied due to capacity or whatever!
Any thoughts?
BA had this offer going on all classes (an upgrade to next class) a little while ago. Whether QF would match EK, IMO would be doubtful. EK are trying to snatch market share using this deal at a time when loads are falling (Dec/Jan) and with a lot of QF corporate clients on good J deals, I couldn't see too much leakage to EK. What are EK's flight times (arrival and departures) like compared with QF's - I don't know...
FF Programs: QFF Gold (OW Sapphire) QC Life, LTSilver & 69.94% to LTG, AAdv (56.95% to LTG), VA Gold. Hotel: PC Plat, Hyatt GP Gold, HHonors Gold, SPG, Marriott Rewards, PriorityGUEST, AClub Plat. Car Rental: Avis Pref, Hertz No 1 Cards: Amex Plat, Visa Plat.
Flown 667 sectors totalling 905,242 miles since Thursday, March 03, 1988
I also doubt QF would match in this case. EK are only doing it because they cant sell enough seats. QF can so no need to offer anything extra.
As for bid desk - doubt we'll see anything like that either. QF no doubt do keep a close eye on competitor actions and respond if/when they feel the need. You can always send an email or call to ask if they'll match - but I think I know what the answer will be.
