I'm a little unclear on how the performance that is question time is related to making policy decisions.

And doubly so for someone driven in their actions by hatred of others.
Uh huh. How about contempt of others ?

If a person is governed by hate, and makes it so obvious in the most public of performances, then how can they keep it out of the rest of their lives?

There are times when emotion is a good thing in a leader, and I am reminded of the obvious distress Bob Hawke displayed over Tienamen Square, or the bubbling joy when Australia II won the America's Cup. It made him one of the people. We all felt that way.

But I never thought that Hawkey was ruled by his heart. His great strength was finding consensus and to do that there must be empathy. Hawke generally found a way to find peace and a good outcome. He was famous for it in his union days.

We don't feel that with Julia Gillard, do we?

I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm not a Christian, but Jesus gave us much useful advice.

He was too nice a guy to win elections, especially when he was up against Howard at the top of his game.

He'd had his run and Labor felt he had had had more than enough chances. Funny that they eventually settled on Mark Latham to carry the flag. The ALP can shoot itself in the foot as well as any other mob.

    You're begging the question.

I'm sure a lot of women feel just like Gillard when facing off against sneering, sexist [moderated] like Tony Abbot, as well. I doubt many would begrudge her a bit of "emotion".

Well you obviously don't. Personally, I find your boy Tony to be a very angry man and that scares me a lot more.

So you're easily scared then . If so then you must be in a state abject terror with the current leader and her government.

This bit is what makes professional competent women cringe. Gillard serves up the gender rubbish when she is held accountable for her policies. She does more damage to women's causes because when the going gets tough she yells the gender card. Yet she completely ignored Julie Bishop in her recent lather about men in a Liberal Government. She seems to think its ok to serve it out but she does worse herself. You assume that women find Abbott is sexist but the truth is that he is no more sexist than Jo Blow on the street.

Your nasty comments about Abbott, are vile and unnecessary. And wrong.

I thought the language revealed a lot about the writer. If these are the terms drsmithy uses, then he can hardly be offended on anyone's behalf when others use foul and abusive language.

There is far too much of that in this thread. Foul language and attacks on others.

Well. It's back to that old gremlin of "values" isn't it, discussed way back on this thread. It seems that only Labor people have them and that gives them the right to abuse others but the others, if they say likewise, are scum.
