Take off $10M for doing some of the things mentioned above - clearing debts, a few choice properties, cars - and leave at least $1M for a straight up donation to charity.

Put half of it into a 5% interest bearing savings account, and half invested diversely but a bit more aggressively. So you get about $38,500 per week in interest. Again, send $6,000 of that to family and friends, and $2,500 to charity.

That leaves at least $30,000 per week - I'd say you could probably live off that, while nursing the other investments as well.

Ok, the driveaway price is $750K but that's only 0.008% of your net worth if you win the $90M
    Alanslegal,

    Too many zeros there.

    Should be 0.83%
    cheers,

    OK.

    1 million over 90 million is 1.11% therefore 3/4 of 1 million is 3/4 of 1.11% which equals .83%

.0083 is numerically correct but when expressed as a percentage it become .83%

    cheers,
    Bill.

Not gonna lie, part of me would be tempted to go straight to Crown and put it all on Red. Double or nothing before I get too attached

But yeah, not sure what I'd do with that much money, probably go on a spree with part of it and then save the rest.

As an aside...how much do you reckon they'd want for the North Island of NZ?

I wouldn't pay off the mortgages as I am still able to negative gear them.

I would give some of the money to my parents, my brother, buy gifts for some friends and go on a luxury 6 month cruise round the world.

After I return I will use a fair proportion of the money to buy land and build dormitory style apartments for the homeless....
