I read somewhere recently that they were running about 2/3 full (ie not very full).

I wouldn't be surprised to see V Australia be the first to pull out of the US route. They must be losing big dollars.

I think lopads this month are more like 80-90%. They had a fair few 100% full flights this month also.

I hope they can hang in there, make a profit AND keep the others honest.
    cheers,

I flew MEL-BNE-LAX-SYD-MEL (wanted the morning arrival) in Early June and will say things were not so pretty on the Brisbane run with only around 40% which made for a comfortable and brilliant flight, but the Sydney flight was around 70%.

Fairly full in Premium Economy both ways, not as much on the BNE leg, but it looks like a great product.

I hope the Melbourne flights do well and if they were to drop anything they would drop the Brisbane run mabye? There were quite a few connecting onto the BNE-LAX run from Melbourne so I dont know how many were actually BNE pax??

my flight over in May on PE it was pretty empy, but the way back relatively full.

I also noticed their Business Class seemed relatively popular.

No idea how busy it was at the back of the plane.

Fingers crossed they can hold out n maybe UA will give up 1st

I have to say for once I fellt like a passenger and not cattle on a flight

From all reports I've heard VA's patronage is steadily growing, which can only be a good thing.

Personally I don't think VA will be going anywhere any time soon, DJ, and to an extent, Virgin Group, have too much invested in the service to let it go this soon.

If any, I reckon UA will be the first carrier to pull out completely, although Delta might scale back services and increase their codeshare with VA.

UA won't pull out. UA runs full regularly, and the route is an essential link in Star Alliance, the largest global alliance.

You're dreaming, dude. In case you hadn't heard, there's this group of airlines called the Star Alliance, to which UA belongs.

What has V Australia got? A couple of codeshare agreements?

    Whoopdee-whoop.

And a growing base of people who fly them and seem to rave about them... can only be a good thing for them.... if people are seriously STAR alliance pax then they can fly SYD-AKL-LAX.

Do they care.... STAR dont even have LHR-JFK flights... surely a more "impiortant" link than a direct SYD-LAX flight.
