The growth of Middle Eastern airlines in particular Qatar Airways, Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways over the last five years puts them right on top in the new and young fleet stakes. Emirates expansion seems insatiable no region is free from their touch Africa, North & South America, almost every notable city in Asia sees the regular arrival of Emirates aircraft. Qantas debacle: Sad day in Australian Aviation History

Alan Joyce and the board of Qantas made a decision yesterday morning that losing an estimated $30m per day indefinitely is a good move for the airlines' future. The staggering decision was made with full knowledge that 10's of thousands of the traveling public will be effected and the impact on the brand may be terminal. How does this move reconcile with good corporate stewardship?

A week for agreements and partnerships

The week began with the delivery of the first 787 to ANA. Not sure how late, but the Airbus fans who got a ribbing for the A380 delays might have had the last laugh.
