    Hi y'all
So I was finalising my accomodation for my 2 weeks in Fiji (thanks to Markis10 for how to break my NAN run into workable units) in January - when I noticed that the one night I need to book after my diveboat trip was considerably less per night than what I had booked my 4 nights before the cruise. I had a play, and lo and behold, if I only book for a day, I get the much discounted rate with food included, if I do four days it is more expensive per day and without food. As such, I have now booked all the days individually (though three of the four first days are done as separate rooms on the same booking).
Has anyone else noticed this hiccup?
Counting the days till I can relax

Re: Bizarre a-club booking bug (?)

I've experienced this with Hilton more than once. As recently as this Easter I booked for consecutive nights at the Hilton Sydney but individually (ie. four separate reservations for four consecutive nights) because the booking engine wanted more money per night if I booked it as one single reservation. When I checked in I got the 'I see you're staying with us for one night' to which my retort was along the lines of 'no, four, it's just I had to make individual reservations because your system wanted to gouge me'. It makes more work for them but they've caused the problem so I'm not too concerned.

Until then, I'd only heard of the opposite, where a lower number of nights would result in a higher charge, but not this way. I now look at the total stay price and then per night.

I also found this issue when trying to book two nights at the Adelaide Hilton.... Was cheaper to book two separate nights.

I just hope the extra work they have to do doesn't see me end up in the worst room.

Re your second point - I know it makes no sense that to stay longer costs more than doing individual bookings... just nuts. Oh and net was included as well on the cheaper by day booking.

Likewise with Hilton but I have found that Priority Club does actually average out the booking and get it correct.

    cheers,
    Bill.

It seems like most hotel chain engines do this. It's really annoying that you need to check individual dates just to be sure you are paying the lowest rates.

I find that expedia/aggregators generally show the lowest rates on a daily basis so I always compare what I'm quoted by the hotels with one of them. If the two quotes are close then I book. If not then I'll see if it's defaulting to the highest daily rate.
