There is one question which constantly plagues our members. Second only to discovering the meaning of life... our members strive to find the ultimate credit card. The criteria? Low on fees, high on rewards, and frequent flyer friendly.
This week a member attempts to unearth the ultimate credit card suitable for business spending greater than $10,000 per month.
Money magazine promotes the Westpac Earth Platinum Credit Card, however one member queries the justification for the high fees for this card. But, as another member notes, the Westpac card has one of the lowest annual fees for platinum cards in comparison to ANZ Qantas, NAB and Amex. The justification for paying an annual fee comes with the greater points earning capacity, insurance and concierge services.
Other important issues to take note of include:
- the number of points earned per dollar spent
- which airlines the card is partnered with
- whether or not a points cap applies (It should be noted whilst some cards offer exceptional points per dollar, there is often a cap of how many points can be earned at the higher level, before it reverts back to a lesser ratio.)
Another invaluable hint from our members is that paying that dreaded tax bill can actually earn you points! As we mentioned
last week, if tax is paid using a credit card you can actually earn frequent flyer points. Now that has to make tax-time a little less unpleasant!
