A new member (and an inexperienced traveller) is wondering what is the best way to spend 9 hours at LAX during a stop over from Sydney to Boston.

In addition to providing advice about clearing customs and checking in luggage for the Boston leg, our members were unanimous in advising against catching a cap to LA
Catch a cab into LA? Have you been to LA before? I think you will want a very clear idea of what you are looking to achieve, see or do well in advance. Catching a cab into LA is not the same as catching a cab into Sydney or San Francisco
A better option would be to cab to Santa Monica and then spending some time walking from Santa Monica down to Venice Beach. You can hire a bike:
There is bike hire at three main hotels in Marina Del Rey and also at Venice Beach. I paid $8 for an hour to wake up my legs at Venice and the ride either way is very nice

    Other suggestions include:
    • Taking a recovery nap at an airport hotel
    • Visiting the warbird museum just east of LAX
    • Visit Long Beach and have a look at the original Queen Mary which is now a floating hotel.
    • Or shopping (this is the US after all!)
catch a taxi up to Costco up about 5 miles east on West Century after putting your bags thru the suggested process. You can become a Costco member very quickly but there is a fee to join

Virgin "Business" from Bali to brisbane is NOT worth it

    Dear Sir / Madame

You really have no right to call the service you run from Bali a business class service

From your lounge partner in Denpasar charging me to access the Internet, to your crappy...

Re: Annoying Internet plans in hotels that cap the downloads

Yes, but that's why I no longer use hotel Internet.

When in Australia I use my mobile phone's 3G hotspot and suck up the 2.5GB that I have on my phone.

When in New Zealand (my most frequented...

    Re: Qantas BNE/SYD/MEL - LAX $850

I just did a dummy booking for Sept 12. 2 people SYD/LAX return 1823 euro = 2300 AUD. The same flights on Qantas were $3700.

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

And I'm not a fan of the F shower - no hot water on my last two visits (Feb and May) - I've taken to using the J showers instead.

Re: Which Energy Companies take AMEX currently?

Synergy (WA) does as does Alinta (gas in WA). However Alinta won't do it for direct debit - laziness on their part I guess.

Re: I need your *urgent* advice. QF or VA in business to LA?

I've researched Air NZ's J class on the 773 and it's quite impressive. I have flown Virgin Atlantic J (herringbone seat) a few times in the past and whilst Air NZ has the same product, it's nice to...

I think you will find that these people are getting an extra layer of security - their information is more valuable than yours so should be protected. Often that is within organisations rather than...
