• Would you pay to be someone's guest in an airport lounge?

This is what our member katee283 asks our AFF community
What do other members think of this: Recently I was travelling with a friend who has access to an airport lounge. The friend invited me to come in and I accepted. About a week later that friend asked that I pay them money for using the lounge as their guest because it had "cost them money"
Our members are dumbstruck at such audacity. Some thought perhaps the Lounge was a Priority Pass lounge, where members can guest others for a fee that is sometimes not disclosed at time of entry.
I'm guessing it was via the Priority Pass. Some lounges don't charge for an extra guest and some do. I've guested people before using mine and just wear the charge if it comes (sometimes it doesn't). I've never told them it has cost me anything
As it turns out it was not a Priority Pass lounge. The 'friend'
had gained Lounge access through flight status points so it did not cost them anything to invite me in
They charged our member 20 bucks.

Our AFF view on this one is unanimous
I would agree with what seems to be the consensus here - not cool
    One our moderators adds
maybe you should point your ex friend to all the answers in this thread. Let them see for themselves how big an ass they have made of themselves

I think you will find that these people are getting an extra layer of security - their information is more valuable than yours so should be protected. Often that is within organisations rather than...

I got badly caught in Darwin at the IHG a while ago and got a huge bill (>$100). Never again, Hilton now gets a lot of my business and I also carry my own dongle.

Last year flying SIN-BKK with TG it was announced that some idiot had left a laptop at the screening point.
