• Saving With International Qantas Websites. The Do’s, Don’ts and Cautions.

    International Qantas Websites

Our members this week discuss whether it is possible (and practical) to book Qantas seats using the Qantas website of the country you are departing from.

Our members quickly established that it is indeed possible for Australian citizens to book international flights via the Qantas website of another country. Many of our members do so in order to take advantage of special deals and discounts unavailable on the Australian Qantas site.

Whilst our members have had few dramas booking in this manner and indeed for many countries it is cheaper to book in this manner.

However, there are a few cautionary matters to take heed:
    • After completing the online booking, many international sites require the credit card holder to verify the online booking at check-in or at a Qantas office prior to departure. Each country has different requirements in this regard and special notice should be taken of these before departure.
    • Travellers should be wary of conversion rates when booking flights from international sites and remember to verify the cost in Australian dollars before committing.
    • Legal recourse may be limited if issues arise in relation to bookings as the transaction has taken place in a different jurisdiction and accordingly Australian laws relating to the provision of goods and services may not apply.
