I just thought some of you might be interested in a sale lenovo have this weekend. I saw on Twitter that if you price the x220 up to just over $2200 the sale price is a bit over $1400: X220 Sale

Yes it's cheaper in the states, but personally I have always found it easier to deal locally.

    Anyway HTH

    Re: Lenovo sale

Ah interesting - I saw those on sale earlier in the week two - that's a fantastic price for something that far outperforms a tablet but would be very useful for similar applications..

I've had Dell's a lot in the past but my latest product research has put Lenovo at the top of my list. Need to buy something soon!

I've never trusted DELL laptops, and strangely, I don't tend to see large corporates using them... (They often use them as servers though, although some big US based corporates do seem to like them - probably based on their cost price and the different view of DELL in the US).

For corporates, I tend to see Toshiba, HP, Lenovo as the top three. Home users are all over the place, can't think of the most popular brands there.

Generally I prefer Business laptops over Home laptops. Better support for driver updates, better warranty, the manufacturer tends to be more responsive with various fixes and updates. Also, they tend to be built better. Basically they have a higher longevity of support from the vendor (and associated cost of course!).

Personally I still love Lenovos (even after they've gotten "cheaper" by design). Good laptop, sturdy construction and some really nice features.

    Hey Mal,

Yep at work I've only ever had laptops from hp/compaq or lenovo. But I have had Dell desktops quite often. Not sure what the distinction is there.

What do you think of the Latitude and Precision lines? People seem to say they are a different breed.

I think ASUS and DELL are very popular among home users from what I've seen around.

I am thinking the 12.5 inch screen might be a bit limiting for me, but then machines like the E420S (not yet in Aus) with 14 lack the features of the X series (IPS display, DisplayPort, battery life, etc)
