iPhone 4S - have you ordered one? Has it arrived yet?

I've ordered a 16GB Black 4S for my wife. She'll pop her Amaysim SIM into it. MrsM is upgrading from her Nokia E71.

The order was placed at about 5:45 QLD time last Friday and its status is currently Preparing for Shipment (ships by October 14th).

It would be disappointing not to get hers on the 14th, yet know that folks have walked into shops and picked one up. Not the end of the world though.

I am betting that only those who camp out overnight will simply walk in and get one. Everyone seems to be pre-ordering, in which case, they have done exactly the same as you have.

How do you find out the status, or is that through Apple directly?

I had a phone call from Telstra this morning to confirm my order; they said officially it could be up to two weeks, but likely to be less than that.

Ordered direct through Apple.

Needed to get my ancient iPhone 3GS 'un-sizzled' which occurred whilst I was updating software this morn so headed to Apple store in Southland (Melb) and was advised that 1Phone 4S goes on sale at Apple stores at 5am Fri Oct 14.

16G - $799
32G - $899
64G - $999

The only thing new here is the 5am bit. Apple’s site talks about availability from 8am. I just walked past the flagship store and there are about 5 people camped outside. I imagine more will join them overnight but so far it’s nothing at all like the iPhone 4 launch which is understandable.

Ordered a 64gb version from optus online yesterday...got the $99 complete plan where all versions 16/32 gb are free on this plan.

A very good deal for the 64gb...had a call from my local optus store tonight saying I can pick it up when they open tomorrow!

Sure beats lining up at an Apple store.

Edit: Hmm, maybe not. Tracking page says shipping from Shenzen. Which is not in NSW or QLD.
