United Airlines J Class (Business) Direct SYD-LAX Return $4418 (Oct 2010-May 2011)-

Don't know if anyone else noticed this but it looks like United has moved in to match Delta's Business Class Fares to the US from Australia with both at around the same price points $4418 return. I was looking all the way from October this year until May next year and that the price I was getting.

Got to love competition. Certainly better than the $7k price points of VA and QF for a direct flight to the US.

Anyway just wanted to contribute to the forums

Has anyone experienced the revamped UA product? I hear the food is not too flash. Have a heap of SA points and they have the most capacity here on the AUS-US Route.

I've been op-upped into the revamped United F with J food service

The J food was ok, QF definitely streets ahead but that's to be expected. I briefly sat in the new J product to visit a friend, it was ok I thought especially for a US carrier.

Sorry didn't really pay attention to the seat at the time.

Nice to hear. The United new First Class looks good from the pictures. Shame the food is the same as J.

But between Delta and United I have always read a preference for the new United J Class.

I have used the new business class poduct and found it very good other than that the meal offerings were even worse than Qantas's.

See that fare is pretty good and I am considering booking for when I head to Vegas in Feb for the weekend.

I have read a few things about the product which say the bottom deck is better if your over 6'4 tall which I am.

Also *A points which is handy.

LOL Dave can be a bit.... blunt sometimes (though his brain is spilling over with knowledge )

My experience with QF J food (A380 is better) would be about 8.5/10.
Compared to this - United J Food would be about 6/10.

Well, when I went LHR-ORD on UA I made sure to have stocked up on sandwiches from pret a manger to eat on the flight ; was not impressed with the meal offerings but the core product , the seat , laptop power and video screen were def better imo than QF.
