  1. Diary of a DYKWIA - April 2012

    by , 4th May 2012 at 08:44 PM
“Would it were day” I have said to myself many times over the course of the April. Jetlag has really taken its toll. However, somewhat fortunately and unlike the Constable of France, I was not destined to fall to Welsh longbow men in a muddy French field. Business meetings, particularly boring ones, awaited me. It is also 2012 rather than 1415.

It has been a truly tedious month of travel, two days in Newcastle, a week in Shanghai, three days in Auckland and almost two weeks in Blighty. ...

  2. Diary of a DYKWIA - March 2012 Part Two

    by , 1st April 2012 at 09:15 PM
April is here already so it is time to reflect on the second half of March and look ahead to a very hectic month of travel.

March was an unusual month for me, I might even call it odd, it saw two milestones reached. The first, QF P1 and more importantly the second - the retention of VA/DJ Platinum for 2012/2013. I still need another 35 SC’s to be a genuine platinum in my mind though.

My return from Brazil was to be swiftly followed by a trip to Blighty......and not flying ...

Is it me or does the QF SYD F lounge appear to have the exclusivity of a JQ flight these days? There seems to be more and more folk in the lounge every time I’m there, in fact, I can’t remember the last time I was able to walk in and get a table in the restaurant. As shocking as this sounds it is time for QF to raise the bar for WP.

Perhaps I’m just becoming more jaded as travel consumes an even greater part of my life, but I just want some peace and quiet before departure, my frame ...
  4. Diary of a DYKWIA - February 2012

If I was remotely poetical I would probably be able to summon up an embellished phrase describing the passing of time this year.....but am not so can only sit and wonder what happened to January and most of February. There one minute long gone the next.

It never used to be like that, I remember those long sunny summer holidays, those glorious hazy days playing cricket in the local field.......hang on.......I think that may have been a movie, I grew up in Blighty and if I recall it just ...

  5. Diary of a DYKWIA

    January 2012

Oh man's inhumanity to man, it seems that I am doomed to make seven trips to Blighty this year. To be fair one of those trips is actually to Spain, but will involve time in the broad sunlit uplands of the industrial West Midlands. It gets worse.......apparently my time is needed in Brazil again....twice, and China on multiple occasions.

The only glimmer of light on the horizon is avoiding Y and Y+. A relatively successful business year has left a few ...
