Free internet in hotels

It's about time all hotels started offering free Internet. I recently travelled and stayed in various 5-star hotels overseas, and in many had to pay $20 a day to log in to Wi-fi.
It's a real nuisance to log in every day, as well as the added expense, on an already expensive hotel.
My daughter said all of her Backpacker's hotels, even cafes and hamburger joints etc have free Wi-fi.
It must cost the establishment almost nothing.

From now on, I will tell my Travel Agent to only book hotels with free Internet.
If we "vote with our feet", all hotels will soon do this.

One of my pet hates. I tend to go to the Club section just to avoid BS charges.

Most hotels in the US have free wi-fi however as I do most of my travel in Oz, this is a pet peeve of mine. Cannot stand it. Most of the time I link my laptop to my phone (have a plan that can take the data transfer - which is cheaper then always paying the BS hotel fees too!) and stick it to the man that way. Comment cards are left expressing my distaste over the situation and I have no doubt make no impact on management at all. I think I will adopt your option and vote with the feet!
