In recent weeks Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines and Qantas/Jetstar have announced new ventures in the East Asian market.
Thai Airways is looking to launch low cost short Thai Smile in the July of next year to compete with Air Asia in Thailand
Singapore Airlines is touting an all B777 fleet fit out to potentially accommodate 400 passengers, to compete with Jetstar Asia
Qantas is expanding Jetstar operations, planning services from Japan while at the same time touting a new Asian premium carrier rumored to be named "Red Q".
Cathay Pacific will be launching a premium economy product, initially in their B777 from early next year; While SkyTeam are looking to include an Indian carrier in their fold.
All these plans and actions are not bad given the global economic outlook. Perhaps it’s because Asia is considered to fare the best in any economic down turn.
No matter what it's always interesting in the world of Airlines and the products they offer.
