    by , 31st May 2011 at 07:11 AM
I don't have anything personal against the 31st of May. It's the last day of Autumn, reminding me I need to knit some more jumpers. It is someone's birthday. The 31st of May is also the day I say good-bye to my SC's. They'll slip away during the night. Not completely, they are in my lifetime SC's, in some ways like a photo in an album reminding me of fun times past.

Before they slip away from my current album I'm looking back at the fun I had this year. New York was great, catching ...

  2. The Big Pineapple

    by , 20th March 2011 at 08:00 PM
Mr karens and I went on a road trip today with one stop being the Big Pineapple. I have memories of a holiday to Queensland in 1988 of this amzing pineapple with fantastic faciilities. Today was disappointing. Not only was the driveway chained off with the buildings closed but it just looked sad.

  3. Thank you status

    by , 1st December 2010 at 09:45 AM
Saturday night I decided to stay in Brisbane a few extra days and changed my flight from Sunday to Tuesday. Fast forward to Tuesday and I'm relaxing at the QP and giggling inside everytime I heard that the QF517 delay was being extended. I was fine, I was on the only slightly delayed QF521.

I wandered down to gate 17 a little early and heard an announcement for all Manila bound passengers from 517 to go to the customer service desk next to gate I can't remember (top of the escalator). ...

  4. My top 5 things to do in TL

    by , 8th November 2010 at 05:46 PM
I visited Timor Leste earlier this year and have produced my top five things to do in Dili.

    5. Try to use Vodafone global roaming. Then ask every Aussie you meet which phone company they are with. Then try to use a Timor mobile. Give up and walk to the person you were trying to talk to. Get to that person and wish you had emailed as you're now sweating.

    4. Watch an AFL match. The ground is a rectangle of unmaintained dirt with hints of grass. You might be lucky enough ...

  5. 23D, a quiche and a rattling 767

    by , 29th October 2010 at 05:58 PM
When T-80 came round earlier in the week I took the risk and chose 23D, which seat guru lists as yellow. I figured it's a short flight from Brisbane to Sydney. I thought the leg room was fine but for some odd reason I found putting my feet on the bulkhead in front of me rather comfortable. I was one of the first to board and not long after some random sat in 23E (for those who don't know, there is no 23F). He asked me if that was seat F then showed me his boarding pass. He was meant to be in 47F ...
