I'm currently holidaying in NZ with my boyfriend. After spending the night in beautiful Ohope we drove to Whakatane to do a trip to White Island. After paying NZ $185 each we boarded the Pee Jay 4 and had a leisurely 2 hour ride to White Island. Morning tea of vegetable soup was served. We were transferred to White Island by a Rhib as PJ4 could not get in close enough. You watch the safety video in the terminal and learn the emergency oxygen system looks like an alfoil bag with plastic window worn by an astronaut in a sci-fi movie made in the 1950’s. Prior to boarding you learn that should emergency oxygen be required, the rear door will be opened and luggage will be jettisoned. Today I was woken at 0400 by the light being switched on. Due to poor planning by higher up I was accommodated with the boys. With the light being switched on one of my bosses leapt out of bed in his jocks. Whoa, a sight for sore eyes. We boarded 2 buses and to my amusement headed to arrivals, which I learnt was the location for GROUP CHECK-IN. After waiting for a Japanese group to check-in whilst simultaneously eating their cut lunches it was our 50+ groups' turn. The hurry up and wait continued ...
