The business really went down hill when they highway bypassed the traffic around Nambour. Eventually it went into administration. I believe it has recently been sold to a Sunshine Coast car collector whom is planning a car exhibition of his collection at the property.

What a shame... I have very fond memories of a family road trip growing up and checking out all the big things on the road... Repeated the experience with the little Macs when road tripping from Mel to Coffs at Christmas... Big Bannana, big ram, the big rock (used to be the Leyland brothers world.. Commented on it to the kids who just stared blankly and said "the who?").. A big beehive... Ahhh good times... Good times...

Wow, that is sad. My memories are of a primary school trip to the big pineapple and the big cow, late 70s early 80s timeframe. The highway has bypassed the big pineapple for a few years - mid 1990s . Took the kids there about 2 years ago and it still seemed sort of popular, but was showing a few cracks.
