Well I'm off the shanghai end of next month... and whilst I had taken casual glances at options for flights from CBR-PVG, this is the first time I've been looking at the sites with the intention of actually taking one or more of the flights I've been looking at (rather than simply dreaming about it)... Now whilst most normal people would have flown CBR-SYD and then SYD to PVG on QF129, because I am both

a. A 747 lover, and thus am willing to travel further if a 747 can be involved...
and
b. An AFF member, and thus doing needless flights is almost a badge of honour...

I've been spending the morning looking at options such as going via SIN or NRT or HKG.

So as it stands now I've managed to find CBR-SYD-HKG-PVG vv on QF \ KA \ CX for a reasonable price. Going via SIN at best adds on an extra $500 (and no extra FF points as that puts me onto SQ), and going via NRT at best adds on $2000, where as HKG add on only $50. I'll need to get my TA to book it for me as there are no options via the QF site which allows me to include HKG as an option, as the QF site is determined to put me onto QF129.

Now all I need to do is say goodbye to my passport for a couple of days so I can get a shiny new chinese visa stamped into it...
