Hi Guys. My friend and I have always wanted to be platinum. I will share below how I have (100sc short) reached platinum.
My FF year is Jan - Jan. In Feb this year I did premium eco (fully paid) a380 return to singapore ex mel. That scored me 120sc. I also did a paid return trip to adelaide ex mel, which scored me 20sc. I then wanted to obtain silver, so did a JASA run points plus pay MEL-ADEL-ALICE SPRINGS-SYDNEY-MEL J CLASS. I did this in one day. This scored me 220 SC, and would reccomend this route to anyone, what a fantastic day we had!!
The platinum journey begins. Last week flew eco MEL to LAX (stopover in sydney to score extra points). Due to flight been full we where pumped to premium eco. This gave us 55SC. I then booked a return trip F trip with AA - LAX-DAL-TPA-DAL-LAX. This trip in first class scored us an amazing 420SC!!! Now there are multipe ways you can do this. You can do this on a full day trip, leaving LAX at 6am and returning by 10pm that night, with 4 hours in TPA. This trip cost about $1000aud per person. Must be booked in first instant upgrade so that your points are calculated at the first class rate. I did this trip TWICE, and I am now 100 points short of platinum, however I will get that in the next week or two by booking a JASA trip, probably to alice again, unless anyone can think of any other easier or cheaper options for me to score 100SC? I have an overseas trip in december, so simply cant wait for the first lounges!!!!!!!! and scored a business class upgrade on the way home, so its already paying off. I know it seems extreme, and you really need to set aside a week, however if you could score a cheap return LAX or on points, and do two TPA runs (must be via dallas) you will be come platinum!!!!!! And I read here about lots of issues with AA flight points and status credits not going through, mine where all credited to my FF account within 24 hours. Would love some ideas on how to better this and how to score an easy 100SC asap. Thanks!!
