Noticed on my recent AMEX Platinum Charge card statement a advice about a $27.50 booking fee for domestic travel. The 2 relavent links are:

Has anyone else heard about this?
I personally think this is crazy, you pay a $900 card fee per year plus this for booking fee per domestic travel - if I am reading this right?

I guess the answer then is to not book through them.Originally Posted by netaddict

This is not very different from most other travel agencies. There is no money to be made from domestic/trans-tasman flights as Qantas gives 0% (?) commission for domestic and only a very small percentage for trans-tasman fares.
Is it right to charge when you're paying $900? I'm not sure. Maybe another reason why Platinum Charge card is becoming redundant.
BTW, with the way the Qantas website has changed, and other online booking systems exist, booking a domestic / trans-tasman trip is easy to do and I see negligible/no value in using a travel agent for the role.
