I thought that as YUP/KUP are booked in A class and I class to SKB you would be entitled to lounge access.
Planning a YUP for next year as well so would be interesting to find out what the rules are.

Hi,
I'm booking a few YUP/KUP fares on AA in March 2011.
- Mon March 07: LAX-ORD-MIA-SKB
- Wed March 09: SKB-MIA-ORD-LAX
- Sat March 19: SFO-DFW-EWR
- Sun March 20: EWR-DFW-LAX
I'm currently a QF QC bronze member.
I have some questions regarding access to AA lounges.
- I made the assumption that as a First passenger on these flights I'd have access to the AA lounges. I checked the AA site this morning and it appears I'm incorrect. Can someone confirm this?
- After returning from SKB (2nd flight listed above) I will have earned enough SC to qualify for QF Gold. This theoretically gives me access to the business lounges operated by AA. However, is it correct to assume the SC for these flights won't be credited for a few weeks and therefore I will not be allocated Gold status until after I return to Australia potentially?
- Since access to the lounges will be pretty important to me and I may need to resort to buying day-passes, am I able to walk up to the AA lounge reception desk and organise it there? Or is this something that is best done in advance?

I thought being a QP member it granted you Admiral's Lounge access, provided you were flying on AA metal?
Your Qantas Club membership will get you into AA lounges when flying AA.
For first class lounges (ie: LAX) YUP/KUP books into P class, which is a first class booking fare - so I would assume that it would get you in...
Oh, awesome. Duh. Thanks for the quick response everyone.
Can anyone confirm that SC earned on AA flights take a few weeks to be credited to QFF accounts?
Even that's not good enough - you need to be on a full-fare first ticket, which implies, for AA, F or Z inventory. A class, into which AONEx's (first-class oneworld explorers) also doesn't provide access, and the check-in agent will often write "A class" in bold letters across the boarding pass.
As mentioned though, is academic, as the OP can gain entry via his QP membership.
AA flights will generally post to your activity statement within a couple of days.
cheers,
Bill.
